Ken Kelly, ABA Coordinator,

Ken Kelly has an extensive baseball resume spanning five decades. He played college baseball at Dartmouth, where he competed in the 1970s College World Series. He then became the youngest Division 1 coach in the country when he took over the Georgetown University baseball program at the age of 25. During his tenure at Georgetown, his team set multiple offensive records that still stand to this day. He also enjoyed similar success at the College of Lake County (IL) where his teams dominated the region, setting numerous records. He and the Altamonte Baseball Academy instructors are devoted to cultivating standout athletes and player development by offering a high caliber of training that is unmatched in the area. 


Chris Roberts, Pro Instructor


Chris Roberts went to FSU and was named a College Baseball All-American in 1992. He also competed for the USA Baseball Team in the 1992 Olympics. He was drafted in the first round (18th overall) by the New York Mets in the 1992 MLB Draft. He went on to pitch for eight seasons in the minor leagues and one season overseas in Japan. After his professional career he coached at several coached at several colleges and was the pitching coach at Stetson University from 2009-2015 where he coached NL Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom. During his time at Stetson he had eight pitchers drafted by Major League teams. 


Darryl Knight, Pro Instructor


Darryl Knight went to Wekiva High School where he stood out as a power hitting catcher. He went on to play college baseball for SSC and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He was drafted in the 14th round by the New York Mets and has played three seasons in their minor league system. Young baseball players gravitate to his positive coaching style and infectious personality. 


Todd Hankins, Pro Instructor

Todd Hankins went to Oviedo High School where he played SS and 3B. He played his collegiate ball as SSC and was drafted in the 15th round by the Cleveland Indians. He has played six seasons in their minor league system as a utility player making the 2015 Eastern League All-Star Game. His speed and baseball IQ allow him to play almost any position. Over his six seasons with the Indians he has stolen 145 bases in 572 games. He finished the 2016 season in AAA ball with a .321 batting average. 

Paul Giambalvo, Senior Instructor

Paul Giambalvo began his collegiate career at Seminole Community College before transferring to the University of South Florida. From there, he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 21st round of the 1998 MLB draft.  Paul went on to pitch for the Lethbridge Black Diamonds of the Pioneer League before an arm injury ended his professional career.  In 2009, his passion for teaching the game led him back to Lake Howell High School (his alma mater) as the team’s pitching coach. He served as Head Coach from 2012 through 2014 before returning to the pitching coach position in 2015. Giambalvo will fill many roles at the Academy, the primary of which is to work with the pitchers at every level.

Mike McDaniel, Senior Instructor

Mike McDaniel is currently in his first year as the Head Coach at Oak Ridge High School after several years as the hitting coach at Olympia High School. In the summers, Coach McDaniel is also the Head Coach of the BPA 16U elite travel team. In addition he has served as an assistant coach for the Winter Park Diamond Dogs in the FCSL. Coach McDaniel brings extensive high school, collegiate and professional coaching experience to the Academy. Coach McDaniel’s teams have excelled for years and he aspires to bring that same energy to the Academy. He will work primarily with hitters, infielders, outfielders and catchers.

Joe Abramowitz, Junior Instructor

Joe Abramowitz is currently the Head Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity Baseball coach at Olympia High School. Abramowitz also has collegiate baseball and professional instructor experience. He aspires to develop each player in the Academy to their full potential and will work primarily with infielders, outfielders and hitters.

Nikko Martel, Junior Instructor

Nikko Martel is currently the Associate Head Coach at Gateway High School. He has many years of playing and coaching experience at the high school level. He a passion for teaching the game of baseball and works primarily with infielders, outfielders and hitters.

Danny Light, Junior Instructor

Danny Light is currently the Head Coach at Tavares High School. He has also coached at Deland High School and Lake Howell High School. He has a background in speed and agility training and works with our kids at camps and clinics increasing their speed and agility on the baseball field. 

Brett Rhodes, Junior Instructor

Brett Rhodes was a four year starter on high school team and earned a scholarship to play baseball at Drexel University. He finished his college playing career at Florida A&M University. He has been around baseball his entire life and also works at Sanford Memorial Stadium. He will work primarily with hitters, infielders, outfielders and catchers.

Benigno Rodriguez, Junior Instructor

Benigno Rodriguez has played at both Thomas University and SSC in college. He was also an assistant coach for Seminole State College working with the infielders. He has many years of coaching experience and with baseball instruction. He works primarily with our hitters and infielders. 

Mitchell Jordan, Junior Instructor

Mitchell Jordan is a right handed pitcher that went to Lake Brantley high school and helped that team win the 8A state title in 2013. He went on to pitch at Stetson University and won the Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Year posting an 8-1 record with a 0.20 ERA. He was drafted in the 10th round by the Oakland A’s in 2016 and has played one season in their minor league system.
